This style of carving from a single piece of wood is done with a router. I draw the design and trace on the wood and my husband, Larry, takes out all the excess wood around the design. It is then painted by me, Terry, and finished with a clear coat of poly urethane. The Buffalo Skull Plaque has a carved V filled with genuine turquoise. There is another Train Plaque, and it belongs to the grandchildren. Our quarter horse plaque(do you see the quarter) is our sense of humor.

This shows another type of plaque in our shop, and there are several more styles. Here the picture is traced onto the blank wood, and then wood burned onto it in detail. I think it turned out really nice, don't you?
We become fairly intense when working on our projects, and we are supposed to be retired. They say use it or lose it, and I guess that would be our brain. Who knew that half of the job is through self promotion of your shop. There is so much to learn how to do, like creating this web site. I am stumbling through, but it is a chore. When I get fed up with it, I go off to another craft project. My hope is that I can finish this site before next Christmas. Lol |
